New Place

It's been two weeks since I moved in a new place and still this mess... I finally bought a fridge. I have to buy a laundry machine too. Moving is so much pain in Japan.

Jogging in Inokashira Park at Night

Now I have like 30 seconds access to the park, I go jogging at night (mostly walking for now). I have to be very careful so I don't stomp on them. Too many beetles and cicadas to avoid killing them without paying close attention.

August 15th is the noisiest day every summer and it's the party day for non-Japanese self-proclaimed patriots. I was too busy enjoying my lunchtime walk so I missed their "performance".

Tartar Sauce

Rice one bowl 150 yen, Rice half 1oo yen, Miso soup 50 yen, Chicken cutlet 80 yen, Japanese style fried chicken 2 pieces 80 yen, Tartar sauce 120 yen. Wth is tartar sauce so expensive? Isn't it supposed to be free?

Smoking in Japan

Very mild warning specific to pulmonary emphysema. It doesn't say anything about cancer, birth defects, passive smoking or anything. Law makers smoke so this takes time to change.

Pepsi Carribean Gold

White sapote flavored pepsi. I had never heard of sapote and believe most Japanese don't know what it is. My guess is they just mix random flavors and then later they go like: "Hey, this tastes like sapote I tried in Mexico." "Oh, really? Then let's name it Pepsi Sapote." "But I don't think Japanese know sapote." "What about pepsi gold from the color?" "We want to reserve that name for special occasion." "Hey, I watched Pirates of Caribbean last night, let's add Carribean in front". Voila! I already forgot how it tastes like.

Melon flavored ice cream. It was my favorite as a kid. The container didn't have this perfect round shape back then and looked way cheaper.

Thought going out to take some pictures and noticed the cap doesn't come off. When I removed it, this is what I saw. I dropped the camera from the bed last night but didn't pay much attention.

Only the protector lens was broken. Not a single visible scratch on the $1000+ lens. Phew...

Kit Kat Zunda Flavor

Found a new flavor of Kit Kat - zunda. Unfortunately, I don't know what zunda is. Google tells me zunda is a Tohoku area's local food made from edamame. Well, no edamame flavor but white chocolate with green food color.

Sold as Calpico in the US. They changed the original name so people don't think you're drinking cow piss.

I couldn't tell the difference from the regular 7-up when dry Pepsi was very different. "Dry" is simply abused. I guess real men drink dirty dry.

It's already so hot outside. It seems the rainy season is gone much earlier than usual. What sucks most is ACs are set at a bit higher temperature in most places.

GMO opened a cafeteria for its employees. Free food and drinks. Open 24 hours. Alcohols on Friday nights.

I was excited about the news but I guess this is the last time I use this cafeteria. Tables are too small and crammed. I don't want to eat with random strangers. Open 24 hours? How nice. Free vending machines are good though.

Strawberry Tiramisu

It's regular strawberry flavor with coffee flavored cookie(?) crumbles at the bottom. Nothing special but a bit more expensive.

Creamy Annin

Almond jelly (annin) flavor. It's ok. Better than actual almond jelly though.

I tried one more flavor but forgot to take a picture. It was something like Orange Cream Brulee and is the worst Haagen-Dazs ever. I didn't even bother to finish it.
